The 2015 Ford Mustang
Ford's Sixth Generation Mustang
Mustangs have always had a reputation for rugged beauty and have stared in many famous movies like the 1968 film "Bullitt" starring Steve McQueen. The Mustang I'll be writing about is Ford's sixty generation mustang for 2015. Once the car is put into mass production it will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Ford Mustang.
The 2015 Ford Mustang is a front-engine "pony car" with front-wheel drive. It uses three engine options which include a standard all-aluminum 3.7 liter "Cyclone" V6, a 2.3 liter Ecoboost turbocharged and direct injected I4, and a 5 liter "Coyote" V8. While the power figures haven't been discovered yet it's said that the 2015 Mustang will have 300 horsepower coming out of the V6 with 270 lb-ft of torque, a greater than 305 horsepower from the I4 with 300 lb-ft of torque, and a greater than 420 horsepower from the V8 with 380 lb-ft of torque.
Let's talk about design features now. The bodywork of the 2015 Mustang is influenced on the front end by Ford's Evos concept. The rear famous "vertical bar" will remain but it will be LED lit and will illuminate when being used for turn signals. The 2015 Mustang is expected to weigh 3,300 lbs. which is 200 lbs. lighter than the fifth generation mustang.
The interior of the 2015 Mustang is based on an airplane cockpit featuring increased body width and a larger cabin. This increases room for passengers in the rear seats. There will still be ambient lighting but it will spread beyond the dials, cup holders, speakers, and other areas in the cabin which is something that is happening in many European cars.
The 2015 Mustang uses either a 6-speed Manual (Getrag MT82) or a 6-speed (SR80) Automatic.
Let's talk price now. When the 2015 Mustang is put into mass production it is expected to cost $23,000 for the V6 model and 32,000 for the V8 model. The price of the I4 model is unknown.
If you look closely you might be able to see some Jaguar in the looks. (Jaguar XK-R)
