The 2007 Spyker C12 Zagato
A Beautiful Italian/Dutch Supercar
At some point Spyker decided that the old C12 La Turbie was good but not good enough. Spyker then decided to lose their minds and contract the Italian design company Zagato to style their new car called the C12 Zagato. The C12 Zagato finally made its debut at the Salon International de L'Auto in Geneva, Switzerland.
The C12 Zagato uses a design based on Formula 1 cars. While the car featured design cues from the Spyker C8 in the interior, doors, and aircraft theme, the exterior is based entirely on Zagato's design. The C12 Zagato uses a Volkswagen 6 liter W12 like the C12 La Turbie but is reduced to 493 horsepower with 450 lb. ft. of torque. Top speed is also reduced to 195 mph. However zero to sixty has been reduced to 3.8 seconds which is still poor. The C12 Zagato is rear mid-engine rear-wheel drive.
The C12 Zagato uses a 5-speed automatic gearbox with a torque-converter in lieu with the clutch. I wish this car used a 6-speed manual with a double-clutch gearbox like the Ferrari 458 Italia. Braking is done through steel ventilated discs and has anti-lock braking.
Now for the price. The C12 Zagato costs $740,000 which is a lot even though the car is half Italian.
