The 2008 Spyker La Turbie

Spyker's First Supercar

In 2008 Spyker thought "hmmm why don't we show the world we can make more than just a simple sports car." Their answer was a mostly Dutch supercar called the La Turbie. The only foreign thing about this car is that it uses a German 6 liter W12 dry sump aluminum engine from Volkswagen that gives the car 500 BHP and a torque of 600 Nm. The engine displaces 5,998 liters. Top speed is 202 mph but gets to sixty in a slow 3.9 seconds. The La Turbie has a RMR layout. The engine can also be mounted ahead of the rear axle.
The La Turbie is fitted with a manual six-speed gearbox that will also be fitted with an F1 style paddle shift that is under development. Something very interesting about this car is that it has two luggage compartments with a leather Lois Vuitton luggage set that you can order that is designed to fit. Like the Spyker Aileron I reviewed earlier the gauges are made by Chronoswiss. Total weight of the La Turbie is 3,362 lbs.
Now for parts. The suspension is based on a Formula 1 suspension and is made of stainless-steel. The shock absorbers are made by Koni and are mounted inboard as opposed to each wheel. The La Turbie is also equipped with anti-lock brakes and a limited-slip differential. The La Turbie originally uses 18 inch wheels although 19 inch Acroblade wheels can be installed that are said to look like propeller blades. The car's interior panels are made of aluminum. The La Turbie features scissor-motion doors like most Lamborghinis.
Now for the price. The La Turbie costs $290,000. Unfortunately for potential buyers all 25 of the cars have been sold.
