The 2002 Cadillac Cien
Cadillac's Experimental and Stealthy Supercar
To celebrate Cadillac's 100th anniversary Cadillac went to the 2002 Detroit Auto Show and revealed a very stealthy looking supercar/sports coupe called the Cien. In Spanish Cien means one hundred. The Cien was developed by Simon Cox and is a rear-wheel-drive rear mid-engine supercar.
The Cien uses a longitudinally mounted 60-degree, 7.5 liter V-12 Northstar engine that produces a whopping 905 horsepower and 750 lb. ft. of torque. Naught to sixty takes 3.4 seconds. The experimental engine used direct injection and displacement on demand, which was supposed to allow the engine to run on only eight or less cylinders under light load.
The most interesting thing about the Cien is that it is half British which should please the boys at British Top Gear. The Cien was developed at General Motors' Advanced Design Studio in England with help from Prodrive. This however is a name British Top Gear hates greatly.
Another interesting thing about the Cien is that its chassis and body are made of aerogel composite, and the design is based on the F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jet. The interior of the Cien features night vision, OnStar, StabiliTrak, ultrasonic rear parking assist, and Communiport which integrates the Cien's audio, computing, navigation, and wireless communication through the use of hands-free voice activation.
Now let's talk price. The Cadillac Cien costs a massive $4,000,000. That will really anger the boys at British Top Gear. If I were Cadillac's CEO I would price the car to be at least $1,500,000.
