The 2014 Lamborghini Huracan
The Successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo
At the 2014 Geneva Auto Show Lamborghini revealed their successor to the Gallardo which they called the Huracan. The name Huracan comes from a legendary bull who fought in 1879, and is also named after the Mayan god of wind, fire, and storm.
The Huracan uses electronically controlled all-wheel drive and uses a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V-10 engine mounted in the middle of the car. This engine delivers 602 horsepower at 8,250 rpm. The engine also delivers a top speed of 202 mph which is pretty good. Naught to sixty takes under three seconds. The Huracan's power to weight ratio is 5.20 lbs. per horsepower. Total weight of the car is 3,135 lbs.
Let's talk about parts now. The Huracan uses a 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission which Lamborghini calls 'Doppia Frizione' which means dual clutch in English. The Huracan's suspension is magnetically controlled. It uses magnetoheological fluid to rapidly change how the suspension acts, which ensures performance and usability. The Huracan also shares components with the next generation Audi R8 thanks to Volkswagen Group. Another interesting but optional feature for the Huracan is "Lamborghini Dynamic Steering" to add to the standard power steering. What this does is change the steering from normal to a more racing feel. Finally the Huracan has the choices of street, sport, and race modes that change how systems like the engine or transmission act while driving. Depending on what mode the driver chooses the engine sound changes too. That's something that will please someone like I don't know......Jeremy Clarkson. LOL.
Now for the price. A normal Huracan without options costs $237,250 which is ok. However compared to other Lambos like the old Murcielago and Gallardo that is a bit expensive. However you'll be paying for slightly better looks and extra poweeeeerrrrrr.
