The 1963 Chevrolet C2 aka Corvette Stingray
One of America's Best Classics
Hey everyone. Today is classic car day again, and today it's the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
The 1963 Stingray is a front-engine rear-wheel drive sports car equipped with either a regular 327 cid V-8 engine that delivered either 300, 340, or 360 hp depending on the model bought. However the most powerful engine available was the Rochester fuel-injected 327cid V-8 that delivered the 360 hp mentioned earlier. The engines were coupled to either a five, four, or three-speed dual-clutch manual gearbox. It took 14.4 seconds to reach a quarter-mile in the standard 300 hp version. Top speed of the 300 hp Stingray is 118 mph which is pretty good given the year the car came into production.
The 1963 Stingray despite having a body made of fiberglass was said by some car enthusiasts to be comfortable and quiet. The passenger compartment was reinforced with steel making the interior strong.
Buyer options for people who wanted a 1963 Stingray back in the day included air conditioning, leather upholstery, and a magnetic-pulse-triggered Delcotronic electric ignition as used by Pontiac. The 1963 Stingray also used cast aluminum knock-off wheels manufactured by Kelsey-Hayes and cost $322.80 per set.
The cost of 1963 Stingray back in the day was $4,037. Today a 1963 Stingray can cost up to $99,990. However given the many good reviews this car has received from car enthusiasts I would have to say the price is worth it.
