The 2010 Noble M600
One Of Britain's Best Supercars
Italians aren't the only ones who like to create hand-built supercars. The British do as well and one their best examples has to be the Noble M600.
The Noble M600 is a mid-engine rear-wheel drive supercar equipped with a 4439 cc 60-degree Yamaha-derived Volvo B8444S twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 541 BHP/tonne. Top speed is an estimated 225 mph. Naught to sixty takes 3 seconds exactly. The engine is coupled to a Oerlikon Graziano transaxle six-speed manual gearbox. Maximum rpm is at 7,000.
However an interesting feature of the M600 is that it's two Garrett turbochargers are capable of variable boost. This allows the driver to choose from 450 BHP on Road setting, 550 BHP on Track setting, and 650 BHP on Race setting.
The M600 is made of stainless steel and carbon fibre.
The price of a M600 in the United States is $450,000 which is quite expensive.
While the boys at British and American Top Gear have praised the M600 extensively others have also criticized the car for having servo assisted brakes that are "barely" assisted and have no ABS making the brakes lock up easily. Journalist John Barker complained that the door mirrors get in the way if you want to see what's coming up behind you. Other than these design flaws the Noble M600 is an incredible car and I wouldn't mind having one if I had the money, which I don't.
