The 2016 Koenigsegg Regera

 

Sweden's New Megacar

 

   

 

     For the few models they have made Koenigsegg has become extremely wealthy and very successful. Now they've decided to create what they call a megacar for 2016 called the Koenigsegg Regera. Regera is a Swedish transitive verb that means "to rule." Let's learn more about this machine.

     The Koenigsegg Regera is a Swedish plug-in hybrid megacar equipped with a monstrous twin-turbocharged Ford 5 liter V-8 supported by three electric motors. Combined with the three electric motors the megacar get's a whopping 1,822 horsepower! Top speed is 248 mph, and naught to sixty takes 2.5 seconds. The hybrid engine is coupled to...get this... no gearbox at all! That is mind-blowingly weird and cool at the same time. The car has over 2,000 pounds of torque.

     The Regera's wheels are made of carbon fiber. The fuel filler cap is joined by an electric socket. The body is likely made completely of carbon fiber as well.

     New interior features that separate the Regera from other Koenigseggs are touches of aluminum on the brand new center console, and new air conditioning vents, and an Agera style steering wheel and LCD-based instrument cluster with new and fancier materials. The only thing kept the same are the doors.

     The main competition is said to be from my favorite car in the world the Pagani Huayra,  and the Hennessey Venom GT.  Whether this is accurate is unknown. I however think the main competition will come from the upcoming Bugatti Chiron concept.

     The Regera will cost $2 million which is close to the Lamborghini Reventon's price.  Let's hope the Regera buyers are satisfied with their cars if they're paying that much money for one.
