I have returned people and in doing so I'm going to bring you the moment all of you, especially my American and British viewers, have been waiting for. It's the Ford GT40! The best of both English speaking countries. And I say this because while the body of the Ford GT40 was British, all of the other parts were all-American. And let's not forget this is the supercar that humiliated Ferrari a record six times in a row at Le Mans from 1966 to 1969. This incredible car has also won four FIA titles. But you're probably not here to listen to just victories and prizes. You're hear once again to hear an average American Joe talk about the cars abilities such as it's powaaaah. Oh and did I forget to mention one of the men who worked on the Ford GT40 was Bruce McLaren of McLaren fame?
The Ford GT40 is a half-American/half-British supercar equipped with four choices of Ford V-8 engines depending on what model you happen to get. If you do happen to get one that is. The first of the production GT40s, the Mk I, used a 4.7 liter V-8 which is the same engine found in an old Ford Mustang from the 1960s. The Mk II used a 7.0 liter FE V-8 from an old Ford Galaxy. The Mk III had perhaps the least powerful engine of the GT40s which was a 4.7 liter V-8 possibly from another regular Ford car. And finally the Mk IV used the same 7.0 liter V-8 as the Mk II.Image result for ford gt40 engine  (Random Ford GT40 Engine) I bet you're wondering which one is the one that humiliated Ferrari the most. That would be the Mk I. Image result for ford gt40 mk1
I don't know the exact speed of the Mk 1 but what I do know is that the one people likely knew the most had a top speed of 185 which was ridiculous for the time it was made. Horsepower was at 500 which was also ridiculous. Torque is at 395 lb-ft @ 6,000 RPM. Horsepower @ RPM is 440 @ 6,000. The engine is coupled to a Hewland LG500 4-speed manual or multiple choices of automatics for the Mk. 1. Image result for ford gt40 mk1 interior
I couldn't find the price of a Ford GT40 Mk I back in the day, but in the present day it costs $11 million. However I think the price is justified because it showed Ferrari who's boss six times. So here you are people. The best of America and Britain.
