The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Concept Prototype by IMSA

A Mid-Engine Corvette That Actually Will Hit The World's Roads

You might be thinking "Corvette already made a mid-engine supercar." "what's the point of making another, even if it's based on the new Stingray?" Well unlike the Zora I wrote about earlier, this car, the Corvette Daytona Concept Prototype by IMSA, will make it into production, and it will hit American streets! And just look at it. It looks incredible and dare I say it, borderline Italian. In your face Ferrari! But enough of the hoopla. Let's learn more about this incredible looking race car for both the track and the streets.
The 2015 Corvette Daytona is a mid-engine rear-wheel drive supercar prototype equipped with a Chevrolet 5.5 liter naturally aspirated (unlike some previous Corvettes) V-8 that delivers an estimated 600 horsepower which is in typical Corvette territory. Top speed of the Corvette Daytona is an estimated 200 mph. Naught to sixty takes an estimated 3 seconds. I have only one famous word to say about that. POWWWWAAAAAHHHHH! The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
If you're thinking "hey it looks like a Stingray!" you'd be right. Most if not all of the design of the Corvette Daytona is based around the C7 Stingray. However new exterior features include a redifined hood, headlights, and radiator air inlets. The rear end includes a brand new set of taillights and window treatment. There are even new slats that are placed along the car's flanks. This all works together to create a reasonable amount of downforce.
The chassis of the Corvette Daytona uses a carbon fiber monocoque and double-wishbone suspension which include the use of push-rod-actuated coil springs over dampers. The car weighs 2,275 pounds.
The cost of this machine will be an estimated $150,000 making it one of the nicest looking cars you can buy for an average supercar price.
I know that this car will be street-legal. My question is whether it's very street-friendly. If it isn't it would make a lot of people happy if Chevrolet made a more street-friendly version. It would also make me happy if Chevrolet let it's customers decide whether the large spoiler is simply an option they want or not.
