The 2015 Bristol GT
A British Electric Supercar
When most people hear the name Bristol they tend to think of the warplanes they manufactured during World War 2. Apparently the company has made cars as well such as the Bristol Fighter which is considered a classic. Now Bristol plans to make a new supercar based on the Giugiaro-designed Namir concept and call it the 2015 Bristol GT.
The Bristol GT is an electric GT supercar equipped possibly with an 814 cc Wankel rotary engine that is combined with four electric motors that drive the wheels. This rotary engine will only serve as a generator for the lithium-ion batteries that will power the electric motors. Top speed of the Bristol GT is unknown for now but a top speed of 200 mph or higher is Bristol's goal. The rotary engine will be coupled to a hybrid powertrain. Horsepower will be at 400.
The Bristol GT will use technology built by Frazer-Nash Research.
As for the price the Bristol GT will cost $310,000 and several hundred units will be created a year.
Jeremy Clarkson of British Top Gear has never been a big fan of Bristols due to their unreliability, but this car might be different. Don't you think he should give it and Bristol a chance to redeem itself?
