Hello everyone. Today I'll be talking about one of my favorite supercars from the 1990s called the Shelby Series 1. I've driven this car on Forza Motorsport 4 and it grips well, corners well, and has plenty of powaaahh. Let's talk more about this American supercar that is actually good.
The Shelby Series 1 is an American supercar equipped with a naturally aspirated Oldsmobile L47 Aurora 4 liter V8 or an Oldsmobile 4 liter supercharged V8 that delivers 600 bhp and 530 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is 170 mph. Naught to sixty takes 3.2 seconds. The engine is coupled to a standard 6-speed manual. Image result for shelby series 1 interior Image result for shelby series 1 interior
The Shelby Series 1 uses dual wishbone suspension featuring coil-over remote dampers mounted inboard, and are actuated by what Shelby called "rocker arms."
The engine is mounted completely behind the front axle and it drove a drive shaft supported in what Shelby called a "torque tube" that spins a 6-speed ZF trans-axle that was specially modified for the Series 1. Image result for shelby series 1 engine
The chassis is made of extruded and formed 6061 aluminum. Aluminum honeycomb panels were also bonded into the floor boards and rocker panels for increased structural integrity and stiffness. The body panels were made of carbon fiber and fiberglass laminate. The car runs on Goodyear Eagle F1 tires which are the same tires used on some of the best Ferraris like the Ferrari F40. The Series 1 also used IMSA racing "rain tire" for the "show car" model.
I don't know the price of the 1998 Shelby Series 1 but if the price of the car in Forza Motorsport 4 is accurate than this car costs just a little over 110,000 US dollars.
